Recent Short Form Work

Executive Produced by Lebron James, Best Shot follows former NBA player Jay Williams and Newark Central High School Basketball Coach Shawn McCray for the 2018-2019 season. Learning lessons both on and off the court, the team will soon realize that no game is won in the first quarter. I was one of several editors on this verite heavy show. We were able to create the highly collaborative environment that allowed us to stay on schedule, while maintaining a cohesive style across all episodes.

The Chris Gethard Show, Additional/1st Assistant Editor (Funny or Die/truTV, 15 Episodes, 2017)

Throughout its evolution from live comedy program to a four-year stint on Manhattan-based public access TV, and finally making the jump to a fully-distributed comedy network, "The Chris Gethard Show" has featured one constant -- its namesake host. Produced by Funny or Die, the series features Gethard -- an alumnus of NYC's Upright Citizens Brigade -- leading a panel of comedian friends and other guests, along with a rambunctious studio audience, through a series of games and bizarre stunts. The interactive experience is broadcast live from New York City, allowing it to include fans from around the world calling in to participate in the controlled chaos.

This show was incredible to work on, the live television environment was a welcome new challenge, and the interactive talk show format allowed room for creative techniques I didn't know existed. We went out live with a 10-second delay and then cut 8 minutes out of the 59 minute episode, massaging any inevitable miscues or sound mix issues and punching up moments for the re-aired version. The pace of the production kept us honest, with quick turnarounds and no room for error.

Oh Hello on Broadway, Additional Editor (Netflix, 2017)

Nick Kroll and John Mulaney are two of the funniest people on the planet. Their commitment to absurdity and emotional honesty in service of these characters made this show very hard to ignore when it was on Broadway, and when offered a chance to work on the Netflix version I jumped.

Working with the great editor Jesse Gordon (Inside Amy Schumer) and brilliant director Michael John Warren (Hamilton on Broadway) we did our best to get out of the way and let the performances shine in bringing this one of a kind show to various screens around the world.

Hillsong: Let Hope Rise, Additional Editor (Universal/Pureflix, 2016)

Hillsong United are evangelical “hipster” Christians from Australia sporting undercuts and leather jackets, writing electro-indie-gospel songs inspired by bands like Sigur Rose, The National, and Explosions in the Sky. Playing to sold out arenas around the world, their shows blur the line between traditional religious experiences and the jams themselves being transcendent.

I was hired to be the Assistant Editor and retained the 1st Assistant credit on the film. My role expanded as did the post schedule and in addition to cutting most of the songs, I ended up being the lead editor bringing the project home. Directed by Michael John Warren and Edited by Edward Bishop.

Bleed for This, Assistant Editor (Open Road, 2016)

This biopic of Rhode Island boxer Vinny Pazienza is one of the great comeback stories in all of sports. Miles Teller and Aaron Eckhart are both incredible and the quiet contemplative nature of the film is unexpected in a boxing flick.

I was hired toward the end of this project to take over for the assistant who had to leave for another job. Most of the work involved keeping track of VFX shots and music cues, leading up to handling all of the turnover for Sound and Color, including all the excitement and scheduling involved in finishing a feature film. Directed by Ben Younger (Boiler Room) and Edited by Zachary Stuart-Pontier (Catfish, Martha Marcy May Marlene)

Queen of Katwe, Assistant Editor (Disney, 2016)

This film by Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding) was a great and one of a kind experience. Starring Lupita Nyong'o and David Oyelowo, this true story about 10-year-old Phiona Mutesi's journey from the slums of Katwe to competing in international chess tournaments extends beyond the usual Disney framework in more ways than one.

I was hired to handle the turnover of this film, primarily the picture which was finished at Company 3 in NY.
