Max Blecker is an Editor, Assistant Editor and MPEG Local 700 member based in Brooklyn. After graduating with a BFA in film from the Conservatory at Purchase College, he began working in independent film as an Assistant Editor on Godfrey Reggio's Visitors (2013) and has continued to work on films like Bleed for This (2016), Mira Nair’s Queen of Katwe (2016), and Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese (2019)
As an Editor he’s worked on a range of projects from screwball comedy (Oh Hello: On Broadway, 2017) to documentaries about social structures and their human cost. Whether exploring community through a basketball season in Newark (Best Shot, 2018), or public education through kids learning to read in Akron (I Promise, 2021), he believes that stories are what bind us together; the most powerful ones come from people fighting to create a better world.
